BAMA appoints new Chief Executive
The British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association (BAMA) has announced the appointment of Mr Patrick Heskins as its new Chief Executive.
He will take up post in the late summer 2015. He succeeds Dr John Morris, who is retiring.
Patrick Heskins joins BAMA from RB (Reckitt Benckiser), where he holds the position of Global Aerosol Innovation Manager. He brings to the Association a wealth of UK and international experience having worked in the aerosol sector since 1987. He is currently Chairman of BAMA’s Environment Committee; a member of the Association’s Executive Committee and also attends the FEA’s Expert Committee meetings as well as being a founder member of the FEA’s Plastic Aerosols Task Force which offered opinions to the European Parliament. He has worked with component suppliers, filling companies and brand owners.
His current role at RB involves finding new and innovative aerosol and pump spray technologies and his work covers a number of global brands including Air Wick, Lysol, Mortein and Vanish. He is part of the Health & Safety Committee for his company and has responsibility for facilities so that his practical understanding of standards and safety, two of BAMA’s key platforms, is second to none. Before joining RB in 2008, Mr Heskins’ previous roles included work with Seaquist Perfect Dispensing Ltd (now Aptar); Coster Aerosols; Aerosol Research and Development; and the Public Analyst Department in Hampshire.
The appointment was made by BAMA’s Executive Committee, the Association’s governing body, which is composed of representatives drawn from the membership. The post, which was publicly advertised, attracted strong applicants both from within and outside the industry. Patrick Heskins said: “BAMA is an incredibly well-respected organisation and the challenge for the future will be to further develop this reputation and grow what BAMA does to best assist the members. As Chief Executive, I intend to build on the work and achievements of previous Chief Executives, John Morris and Sue Harrison [previously Rogers].
Having spent most of my working life in the aerosol industry, it is an honour and a privilege to represent the sector at such a senior level.” Grant Coupland, Chairman of BAMA, said: “After a rigorous search we are delighted to appoint Patrick to lead and develop the Association. BAMA’s work is crucial to the success of members across the aerosol supply chain. We are developing our vision for the future and believe that Patrick Heskins’ experience and energy will play an important part in leading BAMA in the coming years. We wanted to find someone who, like our current and previous CEs, displayed genuine excitement about the technological developments for which our industry is known, as well as enthusiasm for the unimpeachable standards set by BAMA. We believe we have found the right person in Patrick. We wish him every success and welcome him warmly to this new role. I also take this opportunity to thank John Morris for his leadership of BAMA for the past three and a half years”.
